Some additional thoughts about The Japan
Cup and Japan
I MAY have been the first to coin the following
phrase
Japan is just like The United States
except
that it is 100% different!
Yes, that sounds a bit contradictory,
but
most people who have had the privilege
to
visit Japan - REALLY visit Japan in
terms
of spending time with some of the most
hospitable
people in the world - smile and nod
knowingly.
I have been fortunate to see many of
the
great cities of Europe and the US,
but for
sheer vibrancy, Tokyo has no near competitors.
There is so much to experience in just
one
section of Tokyo that many people may
be
tempted to stay within a few blocks
of their
hotel. This is not bad, but then eating
plain
vanilla ice cream is not gbad,h but
what
about the universe of other great flavors!
Attending The Japan Cup should NOT
be seen
as ggoing to a Magic convention.h
Of course,
the Magic and lectures are probably
not what
the average Magician from the West
would
see. However, that is just the beginning.
Dr. Shigeru Tashiro has a group of
helpers
who will assist you in finding restaurants
and shopping and sights that you will
file
under gGreatest travel experiences
of my
life!h Of special note is Keiko-san,
The
Wonder Woman! She is the Mother of
a very
talented Magician, Sally Kashiwagi,
an artist
who is on her way to international
fame.
Keiko-san speaks perfect English, knows
Tokyo
and Saitama and Kawagoe and a few hundred
other cities and towns, and seems to
be able
to read minds. She can anticipate what
you
want and brings you to a place that
you will
hope will open up an annex in your
town or
city!
Tashiro-san will take special care
of you
- gastronomically, Magically, and if
you
need it, medically! When you see me,
ask
about my short, but needed visit of
his hospital
and my 5 star evaluation of his care
and
the professionalism of his staff. He
doesnft
sleep, and I suspect very few of his
helpers
do during your stay as they are committed
to making your Japan Adventure - be
it for
a few days or a few weeks-part of all
your
future Wish Lists.
They are very good at their jobs!
